Relaxation Massage

Just as the name implies, this is the perfect modality to relieve the stress and tightness caused by your hectic life so that you can return to your schedule refreshed and rejuvenated. Blending Swedish and circulatory massage strokes, your therapist will gently knead your muscles to increase flexibility, stimulate circulation, and promote relaxation.

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD)

Type of massage  performed to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph, which carries waste products away from the tissues back toward the heart. The lymph system depends on intrinsic contractions of the smooth muscle cells in the walls of lymph vessels (peristalsis) and the movement of skeletal muscles to propel lymph through the vessels to lymph nodes and then to the lymph ducts which return lymph to the cardiovascular system. Manual lymph drainage uses a specific amount of pressure (less than 9 ounces per square inch or about 4 kPa) and rhythmic circular movements to stimulate lymph flow.

Deep Tissue

Designed to remove severe tension, deep tissue massage is a technique used to relieve both muscles and connective tissue below the surface. It helps to improve range of motion and heal injuries below the surface.

Clinical Massage

Also called therapeutic or medical massage. Typical goals include reducing pain, increasing range of motion, improving posture and reducing fluid retention (edema). The massage room may seem more like a doctor’s office and the sessions are short. Clinical massage might be prescribed by a doctor and covered by insurance. The clinical massage therapist customizes a treatment plan to target the client’s specific problem and only treats that area, not the whole body. Clinical massage therapists may have additional training in one or more specialty areas. This creates a wide variety of approaches to clinical massage using many different techniques.

Sports massage

Sports massage is different than the clinical or relaxation massage you might be used to receiving at the Spa or chiropractors office. Sports massage is usually performed on a client dressed in loose clothing and involves applying therapeutic massage and stretching to assist an athlete’s performance or speed recovery from an activity. The type of sports massage you receive is based on your goal and when you get your massage in relation to the event.

  • Pre-Event massage is usually 10-30 minutes long and generally happens the day of and prior to the event. The focus is on preparation for high-intensity activity not to correct dysfunction or reduce stress. Therapists will use compression, kneading, ROM & active stretching, vibration and tapotement–all performed at an “up-tempo” pace. Remember, the goal is get the athlete AMPED UP.
  • Inter-Event massage can happen between events happening on the same day. Similar to pre-event massage, it’s fast-paced and typically no more than 10 minutes.
  • Post-Event massage happens after the event, usually within 72 hours. It’s focused on recovery, increasing circulation, reducing muscle tension and overall calming the athlete. Therapists use effleurage (stroking), petrissage (kneading), broadening compression, joint mobilization, and assisted stretching. No deep tissue work, muscles need to recover more before that happens. Sessions are usually 30-45 minutes plus assessment & aftercare counseling.
  • Maintenance massage is a regular clinical massage and happens during the training program. It’s typically 60-90 minutes focused on paying attention to rehabilitation and/or chronic issues, like that frozen shoulder or crazy sore calves. It’s an opportunity to deal with both biomechanical issues and overload (or training errors). This is where deep-tissue & targeted Swedish massage, stretches, friction and trigger point work are appropriate.

Couples Massage

A couples massage is a massage for two people at the same time and place. We’ll send two Massage Therapists to your address. You’ll each select the massage technique you prefer.

Back to Back Massage

For back-to-back massages, we’ll send a Massage Therapist to perform massages for two or more people, one after the other. Select a massage technique for each person getting a massage.

Tandem Massage

An immensely pleasurable experience where you will receive a massage by two therapists simultaneously. Within 1 hour you will receive twice the amount of regular massage. The two therapists complement each other's work, keeping the body constantly warm, consequently achieving a more effective therapeutic result. Some of our customers have reported an experience of sensory overload, and something akin to taking powerful painkillers. A regular session lasts for one hour. It is definitely a special experience.

Massage Party

At a massage party you get to bring the spa to you. You and your friends get to relax, renew and rejuvenate in the comfort of your home. You get treated to a wonderful, relaxing and pampering time and earn free massages just for inviting your friends or family to relax with you.

Insomnia Massage

This type of massage is dedicated to those who suffer from conditions like insomnia or restless leg syndrome(RLS). This particular massage modality takes place at bedtime, we will massage you until  you fall asleep for the night so there needs to be a pre-arranged plan for the therapist to leave your home without waking you up. This can be coordinated with another family member or some other method.
